Great experience! I didn’t do a lot of research on Istanbul before arriving, and once we got there it was so gorgeous and so rich in history. There is also a lot of very, very significant religious history there that you don’t have to be a religious guru to enjoy hearing about and seeing. The ferry ride itself is a great way to familiarize yourself with the ferry with a group so that you can do it on your own, not to mention a scenic journey (feeding seagulls along the way makes the ride fun too!). Loved that this experience was earlier in the month as now I can explore this side of Istanbul more often on my own.

The tour was incredible!

The tour was incredible! The tour guide knew so much about the history of every place we visited. This has got to be one of the best Remote Year experiences I’ve signed up on.

Great Introduction to the Historical Sites and History of Istanbul

This is a very worthwhile afternoon of seeing the major sites in the historic district of Istanbul. Our guide, Aydin, was a wealth of knowledge about the history of Istanbul, the Ottoman Empire, and was able to put the major sites in historical perspective, which you would not be able to do if seeing the sites on your own. He also reorganized the order of our visits to the major sites to minimize our wait time as the lines to enter Hagia Sophia and Topkappi Palace can be long, especially when cruise ships are in town, which is almost every day. I highly recommend this tour for any first time visitor to Istanbul!
