Description

Our local experience offers the authentic practice of fishing with a well-equipped instructor, a local fisherman of Karakoy, giving you a chance to discover our unique ways of life. The fisherman, Volkan, will set up everything for you and provide you with the information necessary on how to fish. Through friendly chats with other fishermen and the exceptional view of the whole Istanbul, we will spend about three hours in the pier and hopefully will not turn out empty handed :)

Who This Experience Is Good For

This is a lovely experience for those who are down to learn new practices or experience the traditional way of life of Karakoy’s locals. Perhaps, it can be a chance to impress the others for those who are experienced in fishing as well. 

Meet Our Local Host 

Our local instructor is Volkan. A master fisherman who has been fishing for almost two decades. He also did spend some time instructing on an international level.

Itinerary 

10:00 am: Take a ferry ride to Karakoy to meet your guide at the Karakoy Pier and receive your equipment. Carefully listen as Volkan guides you through the items and his ways of fishing.
Put what you have learned into practice.
While patiently waiting, greet and chat with other locals to hear their stories. Take in the beautiful view, the passing ferries, and witness the fast pace of Istanbul first-hand.
13:00 pm: The time is up! Let’s see who got the most fish, if any :) 

What’s Included

Personalized fishing rod and additional items such as baits. 
A private instructor to walk you through the set up process.
Plenty of time for taking photos and asking questions

Weather Dependent: Yes - Although weather is unpredictable in this region of the world, if there is a disruption due to weather we reserve the right to adjust the itinerary as needed and will always keep the experience and customer safety first priority. 
Difficulty Level: Easy 
Special Clothing Required: Yes - We will be outside on the Karakoy Pier for the designated hours. Depending on the air, make sure to wear something to not be cold or to not be affected by the sun.  
Special Dietary Restrictions: No 
Extra Cash: Needed for water, snacks, and additional needs.
Ground Transportation: Ferry ride to Karakoy Pier, then 5 minute walk to the Galata Bridge.
