Hey, I’m Akay! I started as an engineer in Ankara, then got an MBA in the USA. I spent five years at HomeDepot in Atlanta, mastering DIY and finding the perfect lightbulb. In Istanbul for almost 20 years, I've worked in management at Turkey’s biggest food retail company and now as the energy director. My real passion is traveling and guiding. I got my tourist guide license in Turkey in 2020 and now share Turkey’s gems with adventurers. Itinerary
8:45 AM – Meet in Kadıköy*
Meet-Up: Begin your adventure at the Kadıköy pier. Explore the lively local market and absorb the unique ambiance of this dynamic district. Your guide will provide a brief introduction to the day’s itinerary.
9:00 AM – Ferry Ride to the Old City
Scenic Ferry Ride:Enjoy a picturesque ferry ride across the Bosphorus. Capture stunning views of Istanbul's skyline and iconic landmarks. This 30-minute journey offers a perfect start to your day.
9:30 AM – Explore the Old City
Hagia Sophia: Your first stop is the magnificent Hagia Sophia. Experience the grandeur of this architectural wonder, from its massive domes to its intricate mosaics, as your guide narrates its rich history and transformation through the ages.
Blue Mosque:* Next, visit the iconic Blue Mosque. Admire its stunning blue tiles and learn about its importance in Islamic culture. Remember to dress modestly, as this is an active place of worship.
Hippodrome: Walk through the historic Hippodrome, once the center of Byzantine social life and chariot races. Discover the ancient monuments that still stand here, including the Egyptian Obelisk and the Serpent Column.
1:00 PM – Lunch Break
Local Lunch at Galeyan Restaurant: Take a break and enjoy a delicious lunch at Galeyan Restaurant, where you can savor traditional Turkish cuisine. This is the perfect time to relax and recharge before continuing your tour. (lunch not included).
2:00 PM – Basilica Cistern: Descend into the mystical Basilica Cistern, an ancient underground reservoir with a captivating atmosphere. Marvel at the forest of columns and the mysterious Medusa heads that guard this subterranean marvel.
3:20 PM – Return Ferry to Kadıköy
3:50 PM – Wrap-Up in Kadıköy*
4:00 PM: Arrive back at Kadıköy by. Your guide will conclude the tour here.
