DESCRIPTION
In this cultural spot, a safe space is created where to immerse oneself in a community, collaborative and Afro-centered environment, through events and activities around the African world and alliances, Ken and Deborah bring this culture closer to society.
A contribution such as United Minds enriches this society by contributing to new ideas and new visions that take into account the richness of a culture where its protagonists have been little heard.
In this gathering, we will be discussing and sharing a safe space, with no judgement, topics related to blackness, racism and social change. Change is uncomfortable and maybe some of the conversations that we discuss here will make you feel that way, but that is how we start making the change we need in the world. Don't afraid of it. Embrace it.
If you are thinking: "What can I contribute with I go? I have nothing to share". Please, think that just showing up and willing to hear, learn and understand is already a huge contribution. These experiences are the most important on this journey you're doing.
We will dive into a conversation that will weave in social topics centering Blackness, Lamar will also be part of this experience, she´s an activist in Valencia as well as other parts of the world. We will share our answers to different questions related to racism and our own experience with it.

HOST INTRO
United Minds are the first Afro-centered bookstore in the Spanish state, they were born in 2013 due to the need to combine titles that could only be found isolated in different bookstores, which makes us as African and as diaspora. Books are the backbone of the project, which give life to the different activities we carry out, presentations, conferences, workshops, exhibitions ...
One of their differences is that they have a part of a traveling bookstore from which we move to different meetings and festivals in Spain.
Ken Province and Deborah Ekoka are the co-founders of the bookstore and they have different collaborators that help them to organise events such as live musicians, cookers, artists and writers.
