If you could think about the meal that brings your family together on a cold month, which one would be? "Puchero" is the one I'm thinking about. I have amazing memories with my family around a table enjoying this meal and I thought that sharing this with you would be something really special. My mother will cook Puchero for all of us and we will spend a nice morning playing games, getting to know each other, lots of laughter and delicious food.
Puchero was originally a peasant soup. The basic ingredients of the broth are meat (beef, veal, pork or chicken), bacon, cured bones (such as those of the jamón serrano), and vegetables (potatoes, celery, chard, leek, carrots, and turnips). It can be drunk straight in mugs as a consommé known as caldo de puchero, which can be seasoned with fresh spearmint leaves or sherry. Alternatively, it can be prepared as a soup after adding chickpeas, cured ham, boiled egg, and rice, noodles or bread. Every city of Spain makes it in a different way. The meats, are usually served separately as a main dish that you can mix with the broth, and the remnants used for subsequent dishes as croquettes or "ropa vieja".

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
Please, bear in mind that this is an old and traditional meal. No vegan or vegetarian options.
My mother, Asun, has always hated cooking. She has to learn by herself, on her own. But some years ago, she finally understood she was great at it and started enjoying it. Now, every Sunday she wants to cook all kind of paella for my brother and me. As soon as I asked her doing something like this she said to me: "If you want them to taste one of my dishes, it has to be my puchero!". And here we are. You are welcome home and we are going to enjoy one of the most special meals that my family has enjoyed all over the years, together.

This was a great relaxing time to enjoy a traditional dish that you cannot get in restaurants. It really gave me the experience of being part of a real Spanish family. Juls and his mom were so kind, warm and welcoming! Expect that the food will take a while before it is ready, so sit back and enjoy the appetizers and conversation. Don't book anything that you have to hurry to right after. This is a chance to slow down, relax and enjoy the day!
What a wonderful afternoon of connecting to Jules and his wonderful mother in their private home...
They served us food from the moment we arrived and the Puchero was amazingly flavorful and made with LOVE!
I recommend this for anyone who loves food, family and laughter!
