MINIMUM NEEDED
8 people before June 15 2023 - Once minimum numbers have been met (which could be before June 15), the trip will officially be confirmed via email and you may go forward with necessary flight bookings. In the event we do not reach the minimum by June 15, but still have approval from our partners to run the trip, we may adjust the minimum number in order to not cancel. If we are unable to operate the trip, you will be notified within 24 hours of the deadline and all bookings will be refunded within 3-5 business days (including the initial $150 deposit).
MAXIMUM CAPACITY
12 people - The maximum group size for this trip is limited to 12 participants in order to preserve the intimate nature of the experience and minimize the impact on the local environment. We believe in responsible travel and are committed to maintaining a small group size to ensure a more personal, authentic, and eco-friendly journey.
FINAL BOOKING DEADLINE
August 1 2023 - If the minimum number (or adjusted minimum) has been met by June 15, we will continue to take bookings until this date.
WEATHER DEPENDENT
Although the weather in this region of Mozambique can be unpredictable, we prioritize your safety and overall experience. In case of any weather disruptions affecting time spent in the ocean for research or diving, we reserve the right to adjust the itinerary as needed. Our primary focus is always on providing a memorable experience while ensuring the safety of our participants. Please be aware that we cannot control the weather or ocean conditions, and we recommend planning and preparing according to your level of comfort with water-based activities.
DIFFICULTY LEVEL
Moderate - Participants should have a basic level of physical fitness and be comfortable with water-based activities. The adventure includes marine conservation activities, snorkeling, and encounters with dolphins, which may require swimming and spending extended periods in the water. Additionally, the 2-day safari may involve walking on uneven terrain and engaging in outdoor exploration. Prior experience in similar activities is not required, but participants should be prepared to adapt to various environments and be open to learning new skills.
SPECIAL CLOTHING REQUIRED
Swimwear, Quick-drying clothes, Sun protection, Comfortable footwear, Light jacket or sweater, Safari-appropriate attire and Waterproof bag. Please note that the specific clothing requirements may vary depending on individual preferences. Always check the weather forecast before your trip and pack accordingly.
SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
No - We will try our best to accommodate most dietary needs if given enough notice.
EXTRA CASH
Needed for tipping or extra spending. Think about additional meals, optional activities, souvenirs and personal expenses. A suggested starting point would be to budget an additional $50-$100 per day, depending on your spending habits and the specific activities you choose to partake in. However, you should adjust this amount based on your personal preferences and comfort level. It's always better to have extra cash on hand and be prepared for unforeseen expenses.
ACCOMMODATION
During your stay in central Ponta do Ouro, you will be accommodated in comfortable shared rooms with twin beds. For those who prefer privacy, there is an option to upgrade to a private room with a double bed at an additional cost. Please note that the accommodations are simple and not luxurious, as is typical in this part of the world. This trip is not a luxury retreat experience and our choice of accommodation is based on its central location, easy access to both marine life and local town life with direct access to the beach with a sea view. The primary focus of this journey is on conservation, research, marine life, and authentic experiences. If the quality of accommodation is a make-or-break factor for your trip, this particular experience might not be the best fit for you. We encourage participants to embrace the adventure and the unique opportunity to contribute to marine conservation in Mozambique.
The two nights spent at the safari camp will be in one bedroom luxury safari tents equipped with air-conditioning. Each unit offers two three-quarter beds. The bathroom has a basin, toilet and dressing area, and a serene and private outdoor shower.
TRANSPORTATION
Flights are not included. You will be responsible for booking your flight. We will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to Ponta do Ouro and return you to the airport on the final day. Ground and sea transport for all included activities during the adventure will be included.
FLIGHT BOOKING INFORMATION
Due to many unknown factors, we do not recommend specific flights for this adventure. Please plan to arrive at Maputo International Airport (MPM) in Mozambique on Day 1 (August 26). It is possible that it’s more affordable to fly to Johannesburg or Cape Town and then take a flight to Maputo International Airport. **IMPORTANT: Flights should not be booked until this trip has officially been confirmed by email.**
