Don't let the bike ride deter you.

The Khayelitsha Bike tour is a must do! Don't let the bike ride deter you. I hadn't ridden in years and my muscle memory kicked in. Plus the ride is at an easy pace. The history is amazing plus it's a great contrast to where we were staying.

More than just a bike ride

More than just a bike ride— a memorable learning experience in Khayelitsha that brings you awareness to organizations that are changing opportunities for youth in the community.

Ayanda and Buntu's passions shine through it all

It is really rare that you will have the opportunity to see another person's reality of life firsthand. It is even more rare that you are invited in and educated on the challenges that face those communities.

I cannot over-express how powerful an experience like this is, though it feels simple. Understand the advantages that you have been afforded. Identify with someone who has lived a vastly different life than you have. Challenge yourself and connect.

The bike ride with Ayanda was fun and insightful.

The bike ride with Ayanda was fun and insightful. The first half of this experience is a walk through the informal settlements of TR-section, Khayelitsha with a local resident, Apiwe. You will learn about the people who make up the formal and informal settlements of this township and how you can best support them and their initiatives. (Make sure to bring sunblock!)
