See the real South Africa as we visit the small coastal town of Betty’s Bay to learn how to forage for seafood. We’ll prepare and cook the day’s harvest of mussels, crab and periwinkles at a local braai spot. The Hottentots/Khoisan (indigenous people) largely made use of the ocean to provide their food. We’ll learn how to prepare a meal over a fire - old school.

Here we’ll walk the township and go to a Shisanyama(Township braai) learning of the speciality food and lifestyle of the township We’ll end the day braaing with locals. Meat over flame and always a great salad from the kitchen! Wind down at the end of the day with a meal that will be sure to shut the eyes for the drive home

Sakhulwazi Womens Hub was founded by Mama Rose 13 years ago with the vision to empower black women living in the township. The hub offers a space for sewing, spekboom growing, beading and horticulture. She wants to break the cycle of poverty and handouts by teaching people to provide for themselves.
Short term vision: Help the space become more “visitor friendly” to welcome the opportunity for this to operate as a tourism hub.
Our plan: Monthly facility upgrades starting with a Kitchen Classroom.
How you can help:
- Fundraiser for Kitchen Classroom
- Basic building skills to upgrade roof
