BARBA BEER

The word Barba, very specific for the area of Split, is used to entitle the older gentleman. It also means uncle. But in the last few years the first thing that crosses our mind when we hear the word Barba is beer. The first craft beer and brewery in Split area. Barba is inspired by the stories of thousands of Dalmatian seafarers and Siniša’s uncle was one of them. Learn how Siniša stepped into uncharted territory of Croatian business, the challenges and successes that met him. Learn more about Croatian business mindset that was heavily influenced by our history of decades of communism and Yugoslavia. You’ll also have a chance to taste Barba and give your suggestion on what is the next beer Siniša should make to conquer Split brewery scene and stay Split´s Beer King.

We’ll meet a local owner of a small brewery who will share his story of how he started his company, Barba Beer. We’ll also get to taste the beer as we visit the Lab Brewery. Understand how Croatia moved from communism in 90s to an open market society and how businesses are dealing with Croatian bureaucracy issues on a daily basis. Also - find out what’s the story behind this beer being so cool and popular.

FISH AND HONEY - ŠOLTA ISLAND DAY TRIP

Enjoy a chilled day trip to the island Šolta. We’ll take an hour-long ferry from Split ferry port and visit a local honey farm in a tiny village Rogač. We will get the chance to taste homemade honey products made by Tvrdić family for decades. Goran, the head of the family, will give you an eye-opening presentation and introduce you to the world of bees with a lot of passion and awareness. He also has a unique sense of humor; you will notice that from the first minute.

After the honey farm, a short drive through the gravel road on the island will take us to the fish farm. We’re meeting a local fisherman Igor in the village Grohote. His fish farm is set in a very secluded bay surrounded by the beautiful, untouched nature with a Robinsonian vibe. We’ll join him while he catches the fish and prepares it for lunch.

Igor will show you the entire process of the fish preparation - from the sea to your plate. Some of our Remotes wanted to stay on Šolta, work, and get paid in mussels that Igor prepares.

RAFTING AND SOPARNIK - DAY TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE

We'll escape the city crowds and heat to enjoy green scenery while rafting on Cetina River. We'll first meet Stipe who owns a rafting company and his crew. They will take us to the village in the hinterland by the Cetina river where will be our starting point. He will give us introduction and explain all the saftey aspects of rafting. Then we'll split into teams and raft down the river. Keep in mind it's not wild white water rafting, there are couple of exciting points on our way down the river but you shouldn't be intimidated since it's not high level extreme rafting but more sutable for diverse group of people.

After we finish with rafting, we'll meet the Bartulovic Family and try their homemade food and products they usually sell at the Green Market in Split. Their signature local dish soparnik and one of the most famous dishes in Croatia - homemade peka usually are the highlight of the day. The Cetina River flows through a popular and beautiful region.
