REMOTE YEAR MARKETPLACE BOOKING AND EXPERIENCE POLICIES

Capitalized terms not defined here will have the same meaning they are given in Remote Year’s Participant Terms and Conditions. As a Remote Year Participant and/or a consumer of Remote Year’s Services, you’ve already agreed to Remote Year’s Participant Terms and Conditions, (which include limitations of liability, a confidential information clause, a class action waiver, and resolution of disputes by arbitration instead of in court), apply to your use of the Remote Year Marketplace as well.

Below are some additional terms specific to the use of Remote Year’s Marketplace. By using the Remote Year Marketplace to purchase and/or schedule products, amenities, services, side trips or experiences, you agree to and accept Remote Year’s Participant Terms and Conditions as well as the following Remote Year Marketplace Terms and Conditions. Should the Marketplace Terms and Conditions conflict the Participant Terms and Conditions, the Marketplace Terms and Conditions shall govern only with regard to activities that are purchased/organized through the Marketplace.

Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability.
You acknowledge that the "trusted vendors" are still considered third parties or Other Providers, as defined in Remote Year’s Participant Terms and Conditions, and that by participating in any Remote Year events, you (and any guests or visitors that you bring) are agreeing to the linked Assumption of Risk and Release from Liability, which includes limits on Remote Year’s liability, an assumption of risk clause, and a recordings assignment, in addition to the limitations set forth in Remote Year’s Terms and Conditions.

1. BOOKING AND PAYMENTS
1.1 Local Experiences, Side Trips, Community Events, Amenities, Global Access Packages, and other services booked on the Marketplace will be referred to herein as "Marketplace Services". To make a booking and guarantee your spot on any Marketplace Services you must agree to these Remote Year Marketplace Terms and Conditions, and provide payment for the listed price in full. REMOTEYEAR-TRAVEL will appear on the purchaser’s credit card statement for online transactions / purchases.

1.2 On a select set of Marketplace Services, there may be a payment plan available in which case a non-refundable Marketplace Down Payment is required to reserve your spot. If a Marketplace Down Payment is made, you will be expected to pay the full amount by the deadline provided or the remaining balance will be added to your monthly bill.

1.3 Upon confirmation of your booking and receipt of full payment, subject to availability and at the discretion of Remote Year, Remote Year will reserve your spot on the selected Experience and issue you a confirmation email. Be sure to save this information as it will be required for participation in the selected Experience(s).

1.4 It is your responsibility to check the accuracy of the booking, date, and time on your confirmation. Please contact us at marketplace@remoteyear.com if anything looks incorrect on your confirmation.

2. MARKETPLACE SERVICES
2.1 Each Marketplace Service is unique based on the geographical location, seasonality and curation of the Remote Year City Team.

2.2 While the booking may be coordinated by Remote Year, Marketplace Services may not be accompanied by a Remote Year staff member, and are often run/supervised by Other Providers. Logistical information needed for the experience will be communicated prior to the experience by Remote Year or the relevant Other Provider.

2.3 Unless otherwise stated, Remote Year staff are not professional guides and are not responsible for providing guided experiences, walking tours or anything other than basic information for your Marketplace Service.

3. REMOTE YEAR AS AN ARRANGER
3.1 For certain Marketplace Services Remote Year acts only as an arranger. In these cases, the services provided in connection with the Marketplace Service, (including but not limited to housing and transportation), may be provided, owned and operated by third parties or Other Providers, whose employees, facilities, vehicles or vessels, products and services are not subject to Remote Year's supervision or control. The Other Providers are solely responsible and liable for providing their respective products, provisions and services, unless otherwise specified. Remote Year is not their agent and is not responsible for their actions or inaction. The responsibility of Remote Year in connection with your Marketplace Service is strictly limited. Remote Year makes no warranty, either expressed or implied, regarding the suitability, safety, insurance or other aspects of the products and services provided by Remote Year or any third party or Other Provider and any transportation, tours, services, products or facilities provided by third parties or Other Providers.

4. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1 It is your responsibility to make sure you have a valid passport, and all necessary visas, permits, travel/medical insurance, or certificates on your person for selected Marketplace Service. Remote Year is not liable for any problems, delays or denied entry in the event you are not in possession of valid travel documents.

4.2 It is your responsibility to meet the transportation provided by Remote Year at the correct time and location for departure. In the event you miss a planned departure of a Marketplace Service, you will bear any extra travel costs required to attend. Passengers who miss a departure time due to delay or cancelation of incoming transportation are not entitled to a refund. It is your responsibility to check in with the contact for the Marketplace Service 15 minutes prior to the specified departure time. Due to the nature of the services provided, Remote Year will not be liable if any service departs or arrives later than the specified time, even if you miss a connecting service or work commitment as a result.

4.3 You alone are responsible for your personal belongings and Remote Year is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to any of your personal belongings, regardless of the circumstances.

5. WEATHER, ENVIRONMENTAL AND POLITICAL CONDITIONS
5.1 Remote year is not responsible for any delay, deviation, or cancellation due to weather conditions, labor disputes, border problems or other political factors, mechanical failure, or other issues that may arise and are outside of our control. Marketplace Services may not be cancelled or changed by you at anytime on the basis of weather conditions.

6. REFUNDS/CANCELLATIONS/CHANGES
6.1 Marketplace Services (other than Transition Options) are fully refundable within 24 hours of purchase. Transition Options are non-refundable and non-transferable. No refund will be issued 24 hours after purchase unless we have to cancel or don’t meet the minimum number to operate the Marketplace Service. To receive a refund, please submit a refund request in writing to marketplace@remoteyear.com within 24 hours of booking. Bookings made within 14 days of an event or service start date are not eligible for a refund. Please note, if you do not show up to an event, you are not eligible for a refund.

6.2 Local Experience and Side Trip bookings are transferable as long as the Experience Manager and Program Leader are notified at least 24 hours in advance of the event start date. We may not be able to accommodate any modified food restrictions if you transfer your ticket to someone else. Bookings are non transferable if they require advanced ticketing where your name is attached to a ticket (flights, trains, etc). Bookings are non transferable across different events or experiences.

6.3 Marketplace Services may be cancelled or changed by Remote Year due to not meeting the minimum number to operate. You will always be notified by Remote Year when a change or cancellation is made due to not meeting minimum numbers.

6.4 Remote Year reserves the right to change the date, time, cost and/or itinerary due to vendor updates, extreme weather conditions, natural disasters or other unforeseen circumstances. Remote Year will notify you when a change or cancellation is made.

6.5 In the event of cancellation, participants will be offered a makeup date or a refund of funds paid via the Marketplace. In the event that the participant cannot attend the rescheduled date, we will offer a full refund minus any irrevocable expenses.

6.6 Track Event and Going Local experiences are non-refundable and non-transferable. In the case of cancellation, you will be offered a make-up date or a reasonable alternative determined by the Experience Manager. If you are unable to attend the make up dates provided, you will not be reimbursed or refunded.

6.7 Any discounted fares, promotion fares, sale fares and package deals are non-transferable and non-refundable.

6.8 Vouchers / Gift Cards are non-refundable.

6.9 Please send an e-mail to marketplace@remoteyear.com for all inquiries including payments and chargebacks.

7. GLOBAL ACCESS: REMOTE/CITIZEN ACCESS
Requirements for participation. Citizen services (“Citizen Services”) are Services available to individuals that have fulfilled their commitment to Remote Year through completion of a set length Program of four months or longer, or spent at least four months on a 6 or 12 Month Remote Year Program that has concluded, and are in good standing (“Remote Year Citizens”). The definition of good standing is up to the sole discretion of Remote Year. A participant may not be in good standing if he or she has failed to pay for completed Remote Year Services, violated Remote Year's Code of Conduct, or breached Remote Year’s Participant Terms & Conditions in any way.

7.1 Remote / Citizen Access:

Active Remotes (paying community members on a 4, 6, or 12 month program) have: (1) access to one Track Event and Going Local Experience each month; (2) access to private RY events; and, (3) the ability to purchase Local Experiences, Side Trips, Community Events, Local Amenity, Services, and Apartment Upgrades through the Marketplace.

Opt Out Remotes (Remotes on a 4, 6, or 12 month program who have chosen to opt out of a month of their program while still paying a fee of $1000 to secure their spots for upcoming months) do not have access to any private RY events, Tracks, Local Experiences, Community Events, Local Amenity, Services or Apartment Upgrades through the Marketplace.

Remotes on a 4, 6 or 12 month program that have chosen (or have been asked) to depart the program and are no longer paying any fees associated with the RY platform are former Remotes and do not have access to any element of the RY platform including Tracks, Local Experiences, Side Trips, Community Events, Local Amenity, Services or Apartment Upgrades. They cannot purchase any of these ad hoc through the Marketplace and cannot attend as a Friend / Family of an Active Remote or Citizen.

Active Citizens (Citizens who have completed at least 4 months of a Remote Year program and have paid for a Citizen Global Access package for a specific month) are allocated a Track Event and Going Local Experience as part of their Global Access package. They also have the ability to purchase Local Experiences, Side Trips, Community Events, Local Amenity, Services and Apartment Upgrades and other Citizens Offerings through the Marketplace.

Inactive Citizens (Citizens who have completed at least 4 months of a Remote Year program but have not paid for or opted into a Global Access Package or Citizen Services for the month) may have limited access to purchase Local Experiences, Side Trips and Community Events available on the Experience Hotspot section of the Marketplace. Inactive Citizen have access to other Citizens Offerings through the Marketplace, but they do not have access to Tracks, Going Local, Amenity, Services or Accommodation Upgrades on the Marketplace and they cannot attend private RY events or Communicate Events as a Friend / Family of an Active Remote or Citizen.

Friends & Family (visitors of Active Remotes and Active Citizens) may be granted access to private RY events, Local Experiences, Side Trips, Community Events, Local Amenity and Services at an extra cost determined by the Marketplace or City Team. Remote Year reserves the right to deny access to Friends / Family who are over using RY services. To avoid abuse of services, Inactive Citizens, Opt Out Remotes, or Remotes who have left a Program can not use services as Friends & Family of Active Remotes or Active Citizens.

7.2. Global Access Accommodation Upgrades

Accommodation Upgrades offer the chance to pre-book an apartment or a room in an apartment prior to transition to a new city for Active Remote or Active Citizen. Remote Year is unable to refund an Accommodation Upgrade purchase after it is completed for any reason (including dropping out of the program).

Each Remote is only allowed to book one upgrade per month. If a Remote books more than one, Remote Year reserves the right to cancel and refund one of the upgrades immediately.

When booking an Accommodation Upgrade, all other preferences (including roommate preferences) will not be considered. Remote Year is unable to offer a refund based on accommodation preferences or final assignment of roommates.

Remote Year has the right to change your room assignment at any time due to unforeseen circumstances. If you have pre-booked an apartment with us and your room assignment has been changed, you will be refunded immediately.

7.3 Global Access Transition Options / Travel

As mentioned in the Remote Year Participant Policies, prior to the 65 day deadline of each travel day, you will receive your group’s Transition Options, if any, from the Travel Team. These will be a set of standard alternatives to the group travel that can be selected in the Marketplace.

Transition Options are final and non-refundable once confirmed via the Marketplace. These do not have the same 24 hour refund window as events stated above. The Travel team will not be able to book you back on the group flight if you select one of the other Transition Options.

Flight prices for Transition Trips may change at any time. Should the price change and we are not able to confirm your flight for any reason, we will refund your purchase.

If you select the Credit option through the Marketplace, the credit will be issued/reflected on the last bill you receive before the flight for which you selected the Credit. (For example, if you’ve selected the credit instead of taking the group flight on May 25th, you will see that credit deducted from the bill you receive on May 21st.)

Anything not specifically mentioned as included in the relevant description is not included, These are the items that are not included in the cost of a Transition Trips: Transport to and from airports (per current deviation policy, unless the group reaches 10+ people, accommodation in your transition city, activities in your transition city.

7.4 Global Access Bookings & Citizen Houses

Citizen Services offerings will be available for purchase by Remote Year Citizens on the Remote Year Marketplace and via email to citizens@remoteyear.com. Citizen Services purchases, including any add-ons, are non-refundable and non-transferable, and the price you are offered may vary based on how many months of a set length program you have completed.

The cost to participate in Citizen Services will be as listed on the Remote Year Marketplace or via email from the Remote Year Citizen team. Note that prices on the Remote Year Marketplace and via email are subject to change at any time.

Ground transport to/from accommodation is not included. Neither is travel (unless otherwise specified in the purchase). SIM Cards are NOT included in the Citizen Service participation fees, however, participants have the option to join Remote Year’s SIM Card Service for an additional $30 USD per month. Request to Opt In or Out of our SIM Card Service in accordance with the linked policies above must be received in writing to citizens@remoteyear.com. Unless otherwise specified, travel to location and transport to accommodation are NOT included in Citizens Services.

Global Access participation fees are not prorated. Each Citizen is responsible for the full participation fee previously committed to for any city in which he /she is an active Global Access participant for one or more days.

Incidentals will be invoiced as they are incurred. Failure to pay these amounts can result in revocation of the Citizen's good standing* and associated Global Access benefits.

If two Citizens would like to share a room as a couple, a discount may be applied. Inquiries must be made to citizens@remoteyear.com.

Payment for any Remote Year Citizen House is due in full within 48 hours of the participant’s commitment. Participants will receive instructions on how to book via the Remote Year Marketplace. Barring the exceptions described in the Extreme Situations section 1.2 of Remote Year’s Payment Policies, Citizen House payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

All Global Access packages purchased through the Marketplace and via email to citizens@remoteyear.com are refundable up to 24 hours from the time the package was purchased. In this case, Remote Year will issue a refund for the full amount that was paid for on the Marketplace.

Global Access packages may be cancelled with written notice to citizens@remoteyear.com up to 45-days before Remote Year’s official and listed transition date. If cancelled before 45 days, 50% of the full payment will be refunded to the participant. This applies only to Global Access bookings and excludes other CItizen products and services such as travel, SurpRYse Trip and Citizen Houses.  Any cancellations made after the 45 day mark are non-refundable and non-transferable and the participant will be responsible for any remaining amounts owed to Remote Year, barring the exceptions described in the Extreme Situations section 1.2 of Remote Year’s Payment Policies.

Participants who do not pay their outstanding Global Access bill will jeopardize their Citizenship status and will not be in good standing. The definition of good standing is up to the sole discretion of Remote Year. A participant may not be in good standing if he or she has failed to pay for completed Remote Year Services, violated Remote Year's Code of Conduct, or breached Remote Year’s Participant Terms & Conditions in any way.

8. CHANGES
We are constantly trying to improve the Remote Year Marketplace, so these Terms and Conditions may need to change. We reserve the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time. Please review all updates, as once the Terms and Conditions have been updated your continued use of the Marketplace will constitute acceptance of the updated terms. If you don’t agree with the new Terms and Conditions, you are free to reject them; unfortunately, that means you may no longer be able to use Marketplace
