We love to help you prepare for your travels as much as possible, but only our 4-month and 12-month Journeys include any flights. When it comes to 1-month Trips, you will have to book your own flights to ensure you choose whatever arrangement works best for you.However, if you have a Nomad Pass, our Travel team is happy to give you advice on what flight would be better for you based on your requirements. They may not book them for you but you can benefit from their expertise!
It depends! We work hard to make sure you get a great value from the experiences you book through Remote Year and that you’ll have a great time! Ultimately, the cost of the experience depends on a variety of factors, like the type of activity or for how long it lasts. It’s up to you how many events and activities you choose to take part in. Most Local Experiences cost between $20-$150, while Side Trips can range from $200-$1500. This range will change as we add more and more experiences to our Marketplace!
This is yet another benefit of booking with us! If you book back to back 1-month Trips, we will provide an additional night’s accommodation for free in your upcoming Remote Year destination. Keep in mind that you can’t stay where the previous Trip ended, as we’ll need to make way for the next group. If you decide to take advantage of our offer for a free night’s stay, you will need to let us know at least 7 days in advance. We will try our very best to organize this night’s stay in the same accommodation that you will be staying for the rest of the month, but we cannot guarantee this. It will all depend on availability and the property’s cleaning schedules. In most cases, check-in will be Saturday from 6pm.
Yes we do, the more the merrier! How it works depends on whether you’re booking a Retreat, Trip or Journey.
Retreats: Book your Retreat at the shared room price, which is normally 20% less, and let us know that you’d like to be together. The same price applies for friends or couples. Please specify if you’d prefer a double or multi-bed room when you book your Retreat so we can try to honor your room choice.
1-month Trips: Choosing to share a room means a 25% discount on the whole trip! Please note that for 1-month Trips, we can only offer rooms with one double bed, and this will still be in an apartment shared with other Remotes. If you prefer your own place, you will have the option to pay the supplement for a private apartment (subject to availability).
4-month & 12-month Journeys: You get to save 25% by choosing to share a room! This applies to one room with a double bed. Keep in mind that for Journeys this discount is only applied to the monthly fees, and not applied to the down payment, which both people will have to pay in full.
Also note that no matter the trip you choose with us, your room share discount cannot be used with any referral incentive or discount. That means you wouldn’t be able to book, refer someone to receive a perk, and then receive a room share discount. It’s got to be one or the other.
For most other events and experiences there is no discount if you’re in a pair. We’ll let you know at the time if we’re able to offer something like this.
As much as we love company, anyone who travels on Remote Year programs will need to have their own Travel Pass and they’ll have to book their trip separately.
For 1-month Trips, 4-month or 12-month Journeys you can have a guest. Please see our Program Policies for our standard Guest Policy and the full details.
For Retreats and Festivals, we cannot accept guests. They will need to purchase their own place separately.
We love to welcome new people! In most cases, you can bring someone along to events or experiences that are at an additional charge. Your local team will be able to confirm whether there is availability and what the price of the event will be for your guest. However, we do not allow guests to events and experiences which are included within the cost of the trip.
We’d love to have your pet tag along but it will always depend on the location. In some locations, where we have confirmed that Selina will be the accommodation provider, we may be able to permit pets on the program. The participant will be responsible for any extra costs charged related to bringing along pets. Those are to be arranged directly with the accommodation provider.
In all other destinations, unfortunately we cannot accommodate pets, as we often use private accommodation which doesn't allow pets on the premises. Your RY Advisor can let you know which destinations are pet-friendly.

In most cases this will not be possible, since spots are reserved for the groups paying for the full Remote Year trip that month. There could be an exception if you come as a guest of one of the groups. Sometimes spots will open up, in which case we will post these in the relevant City group on RY Nation Hub, our community network. So make sure you’re logged on!
Of course! Provided you have a valid Travel Pass with us, you can continue to book anything you like on the RY Marketplace using your credit balance. If your Travel Pass has expired, then you can use your credit to renew your Pass before booking anything new on the Marketplace.
Our Nomad Pass offers former RY Citizens the same if not greater value. We took parts of Global Access that were the most popular with Citizens, and have streamlined the monthly offering and fee so that we can pass on the best rates to our frequent travelers.
This means that there is now one option per month (FKA ‘Full Platform), and alternatives ‘Live and Connect’, and ‘Work and Connect’ package options will no longer be available.
If this changes in the future, we’ll be sure to update you.If you have already booked one of these packages for 2022, then don’t worry, there’s no change with your booking! You just won’t be able to book this again in the future.
