The word Barba, very specific for the area of Split, is used to entitle the older gentleman. It also means uncle. But in the last few years the first thing that crosses our mind when we hear the word Barba is beer. The first craft beer and brewery in Split area. Barba is inspired by the stories of thousands of Dalmatian seafarers and Siniša’s uncle was one of them. Learn how Siniša stepped into uncharted territory of Croatian business, the challenges and successes that met him. Learn more about Croatian business mindset that was heavily influenced by our history of decades of communism and Yugoslavia. You’ll also have a chance to taste Barba and give your suggestion on what is the next beer Siniša should make to conquer Split brewery scene and stay Split´s Beer King.
We’ll meet a local owner of a small brewery who will share his story of how he started his company, Barba Beer. We’ll also get to taste the beer as we visit the Lab Brewery. Understand how Croatia moved from communism in 90s to an open market society and how businesses are dealing with Croatian bureaucracy issues on a daily basis. Also - find out what’s the story behind this beer being so cool and popular.
ISLAND HONEY AND ART
Enjoy a chilled day trip to the island Šolta. We’ll take an hour-long ferry from Split ferry port and visiting a local honey farm in a tiny village Rogač. We will get the chance to taste homemade honey products made by Tvrdić family for decades. Goran, the head of the family, will give you an eye-opening presentation and introduce you to the world of bees with a lot of passion and awareness. He also has a unique sense of humor; you will notice that from the first minute.“Give bees a chance” is Goran’s motto and we are all about supporting sustainable local businesses like this one. After that we are in for the treat - Tvrdić family is spoiling our tastebuds and preparing us a homemade meal. Goran’s wife Marina is known after her cooking skills and we will check that out first hand. After the honey farm, a short drive through the gravel road on the island will take us to the village Grohote. We’re meeting a local artist in his gallery and explore the picturesque scenery made of stone while leaving our mark at the oldest village on the island.

MOSOR HIKE AND SOPARNIK
We are hopping on vans and driving out of the city towards locals’ favorite natural site stretching along the shore, from Split to Omiš - Mosor mountain. We are meeting local guides from mountaineering club “Mosor”, dedicated to education and preservation of the mountain as well that also keeps many marked paths and all mountaineering objects on the mountain. In a 40 minutes drive, we are starting our hike from the village below the mountain and in an hour we are reaching the first stop - mountain hut. If you are keen on taking it easy and relaxing in the pristine nature surrounding the hut feel free to soak the beauty of Mother Earth there and if you are up for the challenge in roughly an hour and 40 minutes you can reach the peak of the mountain feeling glorious and enjoying a surreal view from the top. After coming down like a champion we are driving towards a village Blato na Cetini and meeting local family Bartulović and trying their homemade food and products they usually sell at the Green Market in Split. Their signature local dish soparnik and one of the most famous dishes in Croatia - homemade peka usually are the highlight of the day. The Cetina River flows through a popular and beautiful region.
