Meet Our Local Host
In Hanoi, Nguyen Van Hoa and his wife Dang Huong Lan was once the epicenter of the craft of mask making but they now forge ahead as the sole guardians of the craft. They have been in the trade for over 30 years and though the craft does not bring much money, they've never entertained any thoughts to quit because this is their passion - to create soulful paper masks as a way to preserve the Vietnamese traditional culture.
Itinerary:
- Meet up at the mask maker’s house.
- You will learn how to make a raw paper mask by using the concrete mold.
- You will be given different molds
- You wipe the paper and choose one which you want to make. with glue (made of tapioca).

- After repeating the 3rd and stick them on the mold. Step 4 – 5 times, the mask is done and you can take it out.
