How It Works
Lauren & her team focus on meaningful, interesting and educational experiences in nature designed to help reconnect with the natural world. Along the way, you will be introduced to the most concentrated and diverse floral kingdom in the world and possibly see some tracks and signs of some of Table Mountain’s wildlife too. We'll share time in stunning places with views over the Atlantic Ocean or the Mother City, far from the crowds.
For the descent, we take the cableway down if we are in that vicinity and if not, we do a route down one of the many trails on Table Mountain. At times the Cableway closes due to strong wind or annual maintenance. During this time there is a R250 per person walk down fee that is added to the cost of the hike or we can do a route that does not go near the Cableway and therefore no extra costs are needed. For instance there are many circular routes on the Eastern and Western sides of Table Mountain.
*** Please Note - Once you have purchased your session on marketplace - the city team will be in contact to send you the hiking guide's details so you can organise a time and date that will work best for you***
Know Before you Book
You will be in the care of a fully qualified, registered and passionate hiking guide at all times
The trail will be chosen together based on your hiking experience, amount of time you'd like to spend out on the mountain, preference for exposure, etc.
Bring your own water (2L per person), backpack, raincoat (always, even in summer), sunscreen/sunhat/sunglasses, any personal medication and food requirements ie: energy bars, nuts, fruit, etc.
Wear suitable hiking shoes (if you don't have hiking shoes-any sports shoes are ok. The main thing is that your shoes are supportive and have good grip/traction on the bottom as the rock here is tough on shoes) and wear light, layered, stretchy clothing (even in summer the temps can vary)
R220 per person Cableway ticket not included if we do a route to the Cableway. This is payable at the top of the mountain on the day in cash or by credit card.
Please leave jewelry and any large sums of money at home. It is not needed on the mountain.
Meet Our Local Hosts
Lauren wanted to combine her love of Cape Towns natural beauty with her passion for being outdoors. Originally from the USA, she came here on a holiday in 2006, fell in love with South Africa and a South African and decided to stay for good. Cape Town has become her home away from home.
As she explored the many pathways of Table Mountain National Park she saw a growing number of people who were either lost or totally unprepared for a day on the trails. After offering advice, food, sunscreen and much needed water to these unprepared visitors and seeing their thankfulness and peace of mind, Lauren realized she could combine her love of nature with the satisfaction of offering interactive and informative guided hikes around Cape Town’s mountain trails.
Lauren feels Cape Town is truly one of the most amazing places on Earth and realizes the benefits of being in nature and the healthy balance it creates. She encourages people to get outside and soak up the magic around them.
Lauren and her crew are qualified and accredited mountain guides who have fulfilled the requirements for a Skills Program in Tourism Guiding (Adventure Guiding/Mountaineering) with electives in Mountain Walking and Overnight on Trail in the Western Cape as recognized by the governing body, CASTHETTA. They are Wilderness First Aid qualified through Venture Forth International in South Africa.
Lauren and her crew recognize and respect the land, water, plants, animals, all people that are here now and those who came before us. It is our goal to make sure our clients have a safe, enjoyable and unforgettable experience on the mountain while reconnecting with nature and soaking up the beauty that surrounds them. We believe in minimum impact outdoor ethics where we ‘take only photographs, leave only footprints’.
It is important for us to be able to give each person the attention they deserve so we keep it small and simple. Our guide to guest ratio is 1:6. Anyone with a sense of adventure and love of the outdoors is encouraged to join us for a day on the trail and share memories of a lifetime. Individuals, groups and families are welcome. Please inquire for bookings larger than 6 people and we will make it happen.
